The other day in the car, [personal profile] staranise and I had a discussion about Lardo's characterisation. We agreed that there need to be more character studies and Lardo-centric fic in the world, and we had some ideas.

We know Lardo paints, but what other art does she do? What does she think of sculpture or fibre arts or carving or music or dance or poetry?

What elective classes does she take? Samwell's requirements appear to be quite broad.

What do her parents think of her career choices? We know they immigrated to the US, and that would tend to imply things about their security and attitudes. Did Lardo translate for them when she was younger, if her English was better than theirs? What made them so welcoming of her career in academic art, that she is confident talking vaguely about getting an MFA after Samwell and not being sure about it yet?

What made Lardo go to Kenya for a term's exchange? What did she do there? Given what we're told and other things we can guess, it was probably an actual study exchange rather than aid work. So, University of Nairobi, presumably. Did she study art there, or did she cover some of the other required subjects? Did she learn about lots of different types of West African art, or did she get her STEM modules done, or both? What made her choose Kenya - probably not many options among Samwell's partner universities.

What if one or both of her parents were academics, hence the comfort and encouragement for her to stay in academia instead of a career that pays more money? Could her mom have been a professor of, say, African history or colonial history or something like that, before moving to the US, that would explain what drew Lardo to take a term abroad?

Just how widespread is the fanon that Kent Parson has a cat?

So far I've seen Kit Purrson from Idrilka's Maybe I'm Waking Up mentioned a few places, plus original cats like in Misandrywitch's Angles of Unfair Advantage and this fanart

But the only thing I've seen from Ngozi addressing it is when she calls it "the opposite of canon on every level." And I'm kind of heartbroken that it might not actually happen.

Is there possibly just a critical mass of people who believe in Kent's cat hard enough that we can just ignore canon and float away of our own volition?
